Au Bout Là-Bas

Samuel Maudet cooked his way through France, the United States, the Caribbean, and Canada before landing in Lachine with a simple idea: open a proper boulangerie. He and co-owner Christina Campbell launched Au bout là-bas in 2022, and the neighbourhood responded immediately.
Head baker Steven Retière, who started baking at fifteen and trained in France and England, took third place in Montreal's best baguette competition in 2024. The bread list runs from poolish baguettes and sourdough loaves to olive fougasse, honey-hazelnut-fig, and a Charlevoix spelt loaf. Sandwiches and salads are made fresh daily, prepared meals rotate with the seasons, and the pastry case is exactly what you want after a long bike ride along the canal.
