The Bulletin: Three generations of Italian sandwiches, a best bartender crowned, and techno bliss [Issue #163]

The Bulletin is a collection of what's happened, what’s happening, and what’s to come in and around Montreal.

The Bulletin: Three generations of Italian sandwiches, a best bartender crowned, and techno bliss [Issue #163]Italian sandwich and butchery OG Marchigiani's been in the game for 65 years, and they're still as old school as ever. This week, we're looking at the Montreal stories that happen when people commit to something long enough to make it matter.

Marchigiani's been making Italian sandwiches for 65 years across three generations; Marie-Louise Roy-Bilodeau spent four years behind the bar before beating 26 bartenders from across the Americas to win Ultimate Bartender Champion; Dazy Chains turned hand-knit CAPTCHAs into a following, then launched Needlebound to give textile artists a physical space where their work won't disappear into the feed.

We've got an argument that rotisserie chicken earned its place as Montreal's real everyday dish, not through hype but by quietly feeding more people than bagels, poutine, or smoked meat ever will.

As for the weekend? Twin Peaks marathons, techno nights, queer karaoke, and Howard Shore's score live at Place des Arts. Commitment looks different everywhere, but that's thing—it's everywhere. Have at it.
