ROYALMOUNT's holiday calendar is stacked with shows and activities

ROYALMOUNT is leaning into the holidays with a full calendar of complimentary programming that will deck its halls of its mall and turn its Urban Park into a winter festival.

The centrepiece? A skating rink, open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. through the season. Open access, right in the Urban Park. Build your day around it, whether that's morning laps before the crowds, an afternoon session with kids, or evening skating under the lights.

From there, the calendar fills in with live performances, workshops, and spectacles that give you actual reasons to keep coming back.

Bringing the big moments to December

On December 2, Le Fou Fou is hosting a textured art workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.. Materials and a glass of wine are included, no experience necessary. You leave with your own piece, and maybe a new hobby.

December 4 marks the first of three live music sessions in front of the Wishing Bear. German-American singer-songwriter, actress, and model Caroline Vreeland performs at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. on piano with powerhouse vocals. All complimentary, all indoors.

Two days later on December 6, The Nutcracker arrives. 35 dancers, 25 musicians, two 35-minute performances at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. It's a full production in front of the Wishing Bear, open for all to watch, and designed for families looking for something more to do than waiting in line for mall Santas and gift wrapping stations. Enjoy the grace, music, and the spectacle that makes this ballet an essential experience every December.

December 11 brings Canadian singer and songwriter Lauryn Kovacs to the Wishing Bear—same showtimes as Vreeland, but with an alternative-indie energy. Expect an intimate set that will inspire in an unconventional setting.

Then comes December 13, where the skating rink becomes the stage for something bigger: Complimentary skating from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., hot chocolate on hand, and a choreographed drone light show at 8 p.m. set to a live DJ.

The music series wraps December 18 with Gabriella Laberge, a voice and violin virtuoso taking inspiration from Taylor Swift, Ingrid Andres, and Angèle Dubeau performing her favourite pieces at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. in front of the Wishing Bear.

ROYALMOUNT is accessible by metro (De la Savane station via the covered walkway), bike, or car, with four hours of complimentary parking. The skating rink's open daily, the programming's complimentary, and the setup lets you make a full night of it without leaving the site.
