This story originally appeared in URBANIA, an online magazine based in Quebec focused on pop culture and society.
Best known as the founder of Marusan inside Time Out Market Montréal and co-founder of Fleurs & Cadeaux, Hideyuki Imaizumi (aka DJ HIDI) is just as at home behind the decks as he is behind a kitchen counter. His world blends savoury ramen, warm lighting, and vinyl grooves, pulling influence from both Tokyo street corners and Montreal’s late-night heartbeat.
A disciple of the ikigai philosophy—living with passion and purpose—HIDI’s life is a steady rhythm of food, music, and design. His sets move from electronic to organic, like his menus, always shaped by intuition and emotion. One night he’s serving silky onsen eggs, the next he’s spinning Theo Parrish tracks in a Plateau loft.
Here’s what a perfect Saturday night looks like according to him.
The dinner

Fleurs & Cadeaux
1002 Saint-Urbain Street — Downtown
Rôtisserie La Lune
391 Saint-Zotique Street East — La Petite-Patrie
"Fleurs et Cadeaux remains at the top of my list. You can totally flex with DIY temaki sushi (do-it-yourself hand roll), but your heart might be fulfilled by the Chirashi sushi and one of the best sake selections in town."
"I also recently discovered La Lune, which has unlimited coleslaw. I could just sit at the bar, order their wings and coleslaw, and enjoy glasses of their excellent wine selection."
The club

Sans Soleil
1002 St. Urbain St. (basement) — Downtown
Datcha + Kabinet
98 Laurier St. W — Plateau-Mont-Royal
SAT
1201 Saint-Laurent Boulevard — Downtown
"These days, I like hitting clubs early—less time in line, and you get to watch the dance floor take shape. Sometimes, with the right vibe, you can even be the one to start it."
The late-night snacks

Patati Patata
4177 Saint-Laurent Boulevard — Plateau-Mont-Royal
