Tissot's first Canadian boutique starts with a French connection

The Swiss watchmaker chose Montreal for its Canadian debut, drawn by the city's Francophone ties to its home in Le Locle.

Swiss watchmaker Tissot has opened its first Canadian retail location at the Eaton Centre in downtown Montreal, a move that marks a significant step in the brand's North American expansion.

The choice of Montreal wasn't accidental. Tissot, founded in 1853 in the French-speaking Swiss town of Le Locle, saw the city's Francophone culture as a natural fit for its Canadian debut.

"Launching our first Canadian boutique in Montreal is a meaningful milestone for Tissot," said Rick Ostrom, Managing Director of Tissot Canada. "It marks the beginning of a deeper connection with Canadian customers."

The boutique, however, isn't Tissot's first move in Montreal ever. The brand for example signed on as an official partner of the Canadiens in 2017, its first NHL sponsorship.

The 650-square-foot boutique, located street level just off Sainte-Catherine Street West, features a contemporary layout with vaulted display cases, an interactive hologram presentation, and L'Atelier services offering watch repair, maintenance, and restoration on-site that can be viewed by shoppers as they browse.

Staff described as "Tissot Ambassadors" guide visitors through the collections, which include the PRX line, limited edition pieces like the RockWatch and PRX UFO Robot Grendizer 50th Anniversary edition, plus sports-focused models tied to the brand's NBA and MotoGP partnerships.

The boutique is open seven days a week, with extended hours on Wednesdays through Fridays.

    The next big thing.
