
L'Olive Noire

L'Olive Noire is a Moroccan restaurant on rue Ontario Est in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, near the Pie-IX metro, serving halal food with no alcohol. The couscous menu runs from vegetable to poulet, merguez, couscous méchoui de kefta, jarret d'agneau, couscous tfaya (lamb with dried fruits and caramelized onions), and the royal. Tajines cover lamb with preserved lemon and olives, lamb with dried fruits, chicken with preserved lemon and olives, kefta with egg, shrimp with preserved lemon and olives, and a vegetarian option. Pastilla comes in two versions: chicken with almonds, and seafood. A plate of briouates (minced lamb in crispy pastry) rounds out the plats de résistance. Harira, zaalouk, salade marocaine, and house bread with olive oil and olives to start. Crêpes à mille trous, baklava, caramelized prunes, and cinnamon-scented oranges for dessert, with fresh mint tea.
