The Main is reader-supported. Subscriptions are what keep us independent. Five dollars a month — the restaurants, the guides, the weekly bulletin, and what to do each weekend. Support us today.

By our count, this weekend's one of those rare sweet spots where everything and nothing’s happening at once: rooftop jazz, moonlit noir, backyard art sales, country legends, experimental AV shows, street food feasts, and a techno cruise, just for good measure. And that's only a fraction of what we've got tabulated below.

The big-name festivals are in full swing, but so are the lowkey neighbourhood hangs: archive sales, late-night listening sessions, gallery openings you only hear about from a friend. One minute you’re in a crowd of thousands, the next you’re sipping something weird and fizzy on a curb.

Before we dive in, a note from our desk.

When we launched the Local News section of our site, we had one simple goal: to give Montrealers a reason to check in with us every day. A quick scroll, a hit of local headlines, maybe a comment or two before you moved on with your day.
