If we told you this weekend is rife with huge endings and transitions as both institutional and young gun businesses shut down? That legacies are honoured across everything from radio stations to hot dogs and film history? That there are stories about the CIA breaking people's brains and drones putting on light shows? That we compiled over three dozen things to do for New Year's Eve?

Would you believe us? Of course you would. You're subscribed to The Main, and this is Montreal. Things get culturally crazy in the most delightful of ways.

Dive in, please, as deeply as you can. There's so much to discover this week.

Sign me up: Drones, DJs, and skating under the lights

On December 13, ROYALMOUNT's Urban Park skating rink becomes the stage for something a little different: a choreographed drone light show set to live DJ sets, with complimentary skating and hot chocolate to round out the evening.

Skating runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., rentals included. The drones go up at 8 p.m., synchronized to a lineup pulling from Montreal's scene—DJ Apollo's open-format club energy, Mando's hyperpop-Y2K blend, Vina Vaselina repping Bahay Collective, and FIXX from FOR THE ART. It's a mix of styles designed to keep the energy shifting all night.

Dress warm—you'll be outside for a while, but that's the point.
