      La Maison Afghane du Kebab

On Chemin de Chambly in Longueuil, the smell of spiced meat on charcoal may very well find you before the sign does. Follow it, you’ll end up at La Maison Afghane du Kebab, a family restaurant that's earned a reputation for good and cheap eats since Abdul and his family first opened the doors in 2016.

Abdul arrived in Quebec in 1992. It took him more than two decades to open a restaurant, but the patience shows in the food.

Everything here is made with care that doesn't cut corners: dumplings stuffed by hand, kebabs grilled over charcoal, rice slow-cooked with bloomed spices. The warm room, decorated with Afghan textiles and ornaments, keeps you company enough, but the family is never far. Abdul's wife works both front and back of house, and their three daughters pitch in wherever the restaurant needs them.
