Côté Est

Opened in 2012 by chef Kim Côté and his partner Perle Morency, whose family runs the well-regarded Niemand bakery in the village, Côté Est occupies a converted presbytery at the junction of Route 132 and the Kamouraska road, facing the St. Lawrence. The cooking draws on a tight network of local producers and puts genuinely regional ingredients on the plate: guinea fowl, halibut from the Gaspésie, William Bay oysters, milk-fed kid, local duck, house-made pita with seaweed. A boutique and wine shop share the space, and a catering and events arm extends the operation to farms and other venues across the region. La Cantina, the seasonal open-air counter on the same property, runs without reservations from late June through fall.
