      Marché FlohChez Floh

On any given day, the Plateau’s portion of Saint-Denis is decorated in droves of funkily-dressed yet, on the whole, stylish Gen-Zers perusing the three-floored Marché Floh. There’s little that gets them—alternative in appearance, perhaps performative in nature—like a multi-storey trove of repurposed finds that faintly smells like your grandmother’s linen closet.

As of August 29th, they’ve opened Chez Floh, just beside Marché Floh’s original location, with a party. Drinks, DJ sets, small bites, and more made it a true homeware store’s housewarming.

Inside, you’ll find a selection of furniture, décor, and other objects that breathe life into physical space, including fixtures, glassware, ceramics, trinkets, magazines, and more. The store stocks a range of essentials and specialty objects, all sourced secondhand, that will likely inspire any interior designer; amateur or professional.

Just as Marché Floh has spoken to a new generation of secondhand shoppers, Chez Floh bridges the gap between the typical clientele at furniture consignments and thrift stores. Its selection is aligned with the taste of younger home-goods consumers, offering the kind of vintage and antique pieces that may not be found at more traditional shops.

Since opening in December 2020, Marché Floh has solidified its place as a destination for curated vintage and secondhand clothing and accessories in the neighbourhood. The shop toes a middle ground between “true friperies” like a Renaissance and the uppity sensibilities of consignment stores, striking a balance with moderate prices, stock that reflects both timelessness and trends, and an in-the-know kind of atmosphere that can’t be manufactured.

Just under a year ago, the store’s second location opened downtown—another three floors, albeit smaller, given the neighbourhood, of secondhand and vintage clothing and accessories.
