After more than 40 years on Bernard Street, Dragon Flowers has a new address. Tamey Lau's beloved Mile End flower shop has moved to 5777 Boulevard Saint-Laurent, about a five-minute walk from where it all started, with a soft opening back on March 26.
This is not a retirement by any means. Lau, who immigrated from Hong Kong and opened the shop as a single mother to support her family, has no plans to slow down. Her children grew up. She stayed. Every morning for four decades, she greeted the kids on their way to school, smiled at passersby, never forgot to wave to the bus drivers. "Sometimes, she would offer a piece of candy or a flower," the shop wrote on Instagram, "small gestures that brought genuine joy to those who received them."
