Our Predictions, Picks, and a Few Honest Upsets at the 98th Oscars

This Sunday marks the 98th ceremony of the Oscars, and as always, the debate over who will win versus who should win is heating up. This year’s race feels especially unpredictable: Big-screen spectacle and ambitious stories came together all year; from the racing adrenaline of F1 to the sweeping drama of Hamnet and Sentimental Value, the nail-biting intensity of One Battle After Another and Marty Supreme, and the bold vision of Sinners and Bugonia.

It was a strong year for cinema, which means surprises, and maybe a few upsets are very much on the table. Here are my picks for who will win, who should win, and the wild card that could shake things up.
