Super Bowl champion, McGill-trained physician, pandemic frontline worker, and now bakery owner: Mont-Saint-Hilaire native Laurent Duvernay-Tardif seems to approach each new chapter with the same methodology that's defined his years in the NFL trenches.
His latest move fits the pattern: LDT and his business partner Sasha Ghavami have acquired Arhoma, a bakery chain that Jérôme Couture and Ariane Beaumont built from scratch on Hochelaga-Maisonneuve's Ontario Street East back in 2007.
For the Arhoma founders, the handover is a carefully deliberated one that seeks to prioritize continuity over convenience after 19 years, and Duvernay-Tardif's no stranger to bread.
His family has been in the game since his parents launched Le Pain dans les Voiles in 2009 on the South Shore before expanding into Montreal in 2012. He took over the business himself in 2021, and has been quietly developing the building since. The acquisition of another established Montreal institution for carbs simply makes sense.
