The 8th edition of Les Lauriers de la gastronomie québécoise, a Montreal-based non-profit founded in 2018 to recognize and promote excellence in Quebec gastronomy, held its crowning Gala des Lauriers last night at the Centre Pierre-Péladeau’s Salle Pierre-Mercure. In what felt like a formal gala, the room was full and lively.
Danny St-Pierre hosted the evening, promising a faster awards ceremony than in previous editions so everyone can properly enjoy the rest of the evening. The jury is chaired by François-Emmanuel Nicol, chef and owner of the two-Michelin-starred Tanière3 in Quebec City.
St-Pierre’s opening remarks spoke warmly about passion and innovation, describing restaurants as homes and essential ecosystems, and that the Lauriers aim to establish a rigorous approach to highlighting culinary professions.
